Home Is Where The Heart Is...A May Arts Hop With Faber-Castell!

Hello and welcome to my stop on this week long hop with May Arts and Faber-Castell!  If you've missed any of the goodness this week, you may want to head on over and check out earlier posts and leave comments for your chance to win some swag from May Arts and Faber-Castell :-)

Ok, now on with the makes!!  Here's what I came up with...

This sweet banner was created by adhering vintage dictionary pages to some linen material for a bit of added strength. I trimmed out, stitched and stuffed five of these mini houses, in total.  Here's a peek...

I think this one may be my favorite.

The background was created by laying down some lovely color using Gelatos in Bubble Gum, Guava and Lavender and then dabbing on a touch of Gold Champagne.

A few doodled hearts using the White Pitt Artist pen add a touch of whimsy...

...and the layered Plain 2.5" Cotton Blend ribbon makes a perfect roof!  A heart in the center of each house is stitched on and embellished with my favorite lace, trim and vintage findings to finishes them off.

All that's left to do is string them along a length of  Natural 1/8" Cord/Burlap ribbon with bits of lace and trim and my banner is ready to display!

And that's, my friends, is the project.

Stitched hearts, black & white with pops of PINK, glitter---and best of all May Arts.  What's not to love??  This super girly card is the perfect way to say "I love you!" to my sweet baby girl.

I've used a ruffled line of ribbon and trim to ground my sentiment...

Love Never Fails...

Hello!  Today, I have a fun piece of home décor to share with you.

First of all, let me confess my love of banners.  LOVE.  True and real.  I must have one for all occasions and seasons hanging in my home.

I'm just cool like that.

And since I've yet to fill my year with banner-y goodness, I whipped up this polaroid banner full of sweetness for my V-Day wall candy :-)

I decided to add a few of my favorite photos in just for good measure.  And yes, I know that adding photos into the mix is a bit unconventional, but who needs convention?

I just wanna be surrounded by my favorite things and my sweetie is definitely a fave ;-)

Another fave is owls.  NOT birds, mind you---but owls.  How sweet are these cuties surrounded by a splash of hearts in full-on ombre??

Now, just a few more photos...

...and a bit of wisdom in the form of a Bible verse and I'm set!!

The best thing??  I can totally add more if the mood strikes!  Just whip out my mini clothespins and DO IT.  How fun are those tiny pins, anyhow??  ***le sigh***

Alrighty folks, that's all for this one.  Remember, one can never have too much wall candy!!

Smitten.

Hiya!!  Today, I've been bitten by the love bug ;-)  Yep!  I'm totally smitten...

I LOVE this cute little project I've whipped up for my Hubby!

The inside of this card is filled with coupons.  Yes, coupons!  All you coupon-totin' peeps out there know the value of a good coupon.  Well, these coupons are sweets for my sweet.  The best kind of sweets---gifts of action, not just cash ;-)

Not that there's anything wrong with the cash-powered gifts!!  I'm a fan. And Hubby, if you're reading this, all that glitters is gold, in my book.  Just sayin'.

You can find the tickets I've used HERE as a free printable download.  Yep, totally free!  She just asks that you follow her blog before downloading.

But in all honesty, my stash of Valentine-themed scrappy stuff was just sitting there, in all it's pink-and-red-heart-patterned glory, calling me to create.

You see, every year I have grand plans to create Hubby something handmade for Valentine's Day.  Most years, I end up dashing to the store for a last minute card purchase.

Not this year!!

For the front of my project, I've colored up the Saturated Canary image, Princess Peanelope.  How sweet is she??

And as an added bonus, I've included a tiny layout and journaling spot inside.  That way, when the coupons have all been used, he'll still have a sweet little card to keep on his desk at work!  Now, that's the real gift.

(Layout on the left.)

(Journaling tag with pocket on the right.)

Ok, guys, that's the project!  If you wanna whip up one of these bad boys for yourself, check out the tutorial on the Saturated Canary YouTube channel HERE.

Now, go getcha coupon ON!!

Valentine Heart

Hello!!! Can you believe it's February??? Oh, my!!!

In honor of a wonderful *Gala* I'll be attending in a few, short days, I have a project to share with you :)

I recently joined a little contest, hostessed by fellow MAMA artisan-extraordinaire Terri. She provided us with a pattern and no short amount of inspiration, and then set us on our way!

When I found this beautiful fabric, I knew I had to have it!!! It was a bit bright, so I threw it in a tea bath - which gave it just the right vintage tone :)

My heart is held closed by wrapping some crinkly (tea-dyed, as well!), seam binding around several times and securing with a bow. It reminds me of a delicate slipper.

I kept the heart's outside very simple and only added a few fabric flowers with vintage rhinestone centers.

It hangs from a pearl, pink and silver rosary chain.

For the inside, I knew I wanted to incorporate ruffles. I've left the edges of the ruffles raw to add softness and a rustic feel.

Vintage rhinestones and some hand beading add some sparkle. And, of course, it wouldn't be Marie without a crown!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

xoxo,
