I Heart You...

Hello! I hope everyone's Valentine's Day was amazing!!! Lots of love and tons of gifties all around!

Today, I thought I'd share a heart I created for a secret swap in my MAMA group. My recipient was Julie Anne and I was thrilled to create a little heart for her!



I've stitched together a rustic heart and then piled on the vintage goodness :-) Love old doilies and LOVE crusty mother-of-pearl buttons. I'm sure I've collected a ton of them over the years! No joke. A TON!



My heart came from Lisa :-) BIG HUGS to you, Lisa!!! I love it!

Cartes Postales En Sépia

Good Morning, Everyone!!! Today I thought I'd share a little grouping of fabric postcards I've created in sepia tones for a MAMA swap...



The base for my postcards is a fabulously tattered, vintage handkerchief decorated with mother-of-pearl buttons, pearl and seed beading.





The back is a scan of a vintage postcard.



Gosh, I LOVE sepia!!! I just bought some new Copics in sepia tones so be watching for a bit of SEPIA LOVE in future cards :-)

'An Ode To Glitter'

Glitter, Glitter --- How I Love Thee!

Good? No??? Aw, well! I'm no poet, and I know it ;-)

But glitter is pretty. Just sayin'.

Here's a teeny tiny book covered in it!!!

I created this domino mini book for a swap with a fellow Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group artisan.



This particular glitter is German Glass Glitter and will tarnish over time to a beautiful darkened patina.



This tiny book currently on it's way to the UK and a brand new home with Dawn. I hope you love it as much as I've enjoyed creating it for you, Dawn!!!

Boîte D'Allumettes Swap

I recently had the pleasure of participating in another matchbox swap---this time, with my Marie Antoinette group!

We were charged with creating a French-inspired box for our partner, and when I found this lovely Marie image in a beautiful aqua gown, I just had to include her!


She was printed on cotton fabric and stitched to the cover with a few aqua flowers and some sparkly crystals. I just love the texture the netting gives to the base of the box!


I just love the light and dark shading on the French book pages I've used on this box! I loved it so much that I've left some areas without print just so there would be more of that color :-)

Art Under Glass...

Hello, Everyone!!!

I finally have a day off! Woo-hoo!!! Imagine that :-)

Normally, a day off would mean sleeping in, lounging in my PJ's and possibly some errands---but, for me...today...It means I can FINALLY finish a project I've been working on for FOR-EV-ER!!! Oh, and blog about it, of course.

Lately, I've been obsessed with soldering. I just love it! Cannot get enough. So, in addition to the MANY jewelery pieces I have been playing with, I decided to create a larger piece to adorn the wall. Walls need to feel pretty, too. LOL!

Without further ado...









There she is...I just love this 5x7 piece!!! The image of Marie is to die for...

I was so excited when Rella gifted me this beautiful digi sheet of Marie from onecrabapple's etsy store, Art Tea Life. You ABSOLUTELY have to visit. She has an amazing selection!

Marie's Tissu Che'rit Le Journal

Lately, I find myself drawn to fabric :) It's soft and forgiving and I just cannot get enough! That's why I just couldn't resist a swap of items to make a beautiful fabric journal with my Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group...

My partner, Lisa, sent me this lovely kit to work with. I absolutely LOVE the aqua tone of the kit! When I see this color I dream of the ocean and shells and all things "Florida" and growing up there. Of moss hanging from trees. Of grass and blue skies.



Here's my finished journal...



I decided to use the same image of Marie throughout the journal, just cropped in various ways. I believe the same photo can mean so many different things. A close crop gives focus to the face and a small peak into a person's thoughts. A wide crop gives detail of surroundings and a completely different view of a person's life in that moment. I thought it would be fun to play and see if I could evoke a differnt side of Marie using just one photo.

Marie will forever be associated with France. I knew I wanted to include a page that would showcase this.



I think this is my favorite page :) I got an AMAZING tip from my friend, Holly. If you turn a fabric with a strong pattern over, you get a soft one instead. You can see the faint, fleur de lis pattern on the fabric just peeking through. And this vintage hankie! So pretty :)



Marie was a girl in a gilded cage. Lots of pretty things to play with but still a slave to her station in life. How does one keep from being bored while living in a gilded cage???



For my final page, I've created a small stuffed pillow. I needed a place to showcase this lovely vintage glove :) It calls to my mind images of carriages and crowns and all things Queen Marie.

To The Gala And Home Again...

Hello, All!

I want to share with you a soldered piece I created to gift a fellow MAMA artisan with.

This is one of the perks of being a Valentine Gala Attendee...getting to know amazing people, LITERALLY laughing until you cry, and FABULOUS gifts!

This chain is another of my beloved rosary-style chains...Yes, I'm terribly addicted!!! You will most likely see more in the near future :)

This charm spins on the end of the chain so that you can equally admire both sides as you wear it.



The back is a base of vintage French book pages covered in a creamy lace. The rhinestones are from a broken vintage necklace I rescued and gave new life.



I just love this necklace and I hope Martica does, as well. Drop by her blog and check out some of her lovely projects!!! Amazing work!
