The Girls.

Hello!  Today, I come with a mini layout.

Since I prefer to work in miniature, I always find it's easier for me to fill up a layout when I downsize.  This layout is 8 by 8 inches and features the vintage camper from the Sweet Summer Shape Set.

I LOVE the vintage camper and I knew from the moment I layed eyes on it, that it would make its way onto one of the layouts from one of my yearly NSD Scrapbooking retreats with My Girls!

I began by paper piecing the camper with cardstock.  A bit of Copic marker shading gives some dimension to the piece.  I then added my metallic stripes and a bit of embossing powder to really highlight the antenna and hitch.

Here, you can see a bit of the metallic shine!

It's not quite as girly as my real life camper would be (PINK with silver racing stripes!), but it totally gets the point across.  I don't really camp, and my idea of camping is a resort with a fully working bathroom!

Thanks for joining me today and I'll see you next time!!

Sweet Baby Girl.

Hello and Happy Mother's Day!

I hope you're having a lovely one.  Today, I have a shadowbox to share with you that I've created for my sweet Baby Girl.

I began by covering the front of the 7 x 7 Themed Shadowbox Baby Girl with paperclay.  Before it was dry, I stamped into it here and there with a star stamp and let the whole thing dry.

After it was dry, I covered the whole thing with a coat of white paint and a coat of Mod Podge to seal it in. I then applied a coat of black paint which I wiped off with a wet rag to give the recesses a bit of a distressed look.  Some inking with brown ink furthered the distress.

Some paper piecing along the clothes line...

...and some crackle on the "B" were perfect embellishments!  It's sort of a monogram, as our last name starts with "B".  I've also added in some ribbon, lace and a few pearls and mother-of-pearl buttons embedded into a layer of beeswax.  The shimmer on the beeswax is a dusting of Perfect Pearls.  LOVE!

Thanks so much for joining me today!

Owl Be There For You!

Hello!  Today, I've got another post for Gina's Designs and a fun way to cover your chip.

One of my favorite ways to use chipboard die-cuts is to recreate the look of an applique in a quick and easy way!  This owl from the Owl Micro Mini Album is the perfect size for the front of this journal I've created.  I've simply covered the chipboard pieces with a thin layer of tacky glue, applied my fabric and trimmed each piece out before layering them together to create my faux applique!

Here's a peek at the little guy all close-up and personal.  I love him and he brings this simple journal cover to life!

Thanks so much for joining me today and I'll see ya next time!

Gettin' All Quilty.

Hello!

Mary here with a few quilt-inspired cards that are rocking some cute chip embellies.

I've always been a fan of the home-spun look of quilts, but haven't been able to make the jump to actual quilting.  So what's a girl to do when you're itching to make something stitched and fabulous?  Quilted cards, of course!

The Button Shape Set from Gina's Designs provides the perfect finishing touch for my mini quilts.

I've simply given them two coats of white embossing powder...

...and tied a bit of twine through.

Thanks so much for joining me today and I'll see ya next time!

Quick And Easy Tags.

Hello!  Mary here with a quick way to jazz up your chip.  These tags are perfect for tying onto packages, labeling storage bins or creating jewelry!

How cute would they be to label your veggies in a Spring garden??

The first couple tags I created are covered in a paper clay, stamped into and covered with a coat of white paint.  This is one of my favorite ways to use my chip pieces.  Stamp a name or a background stamp for a textured embellishment!

The second set is rockin' a chalkboard look!  A quick coat of black paint and a handwritten name with a white gel pen and they were set.
With some of the tags, I just tied my trim around a handle but with others I chose to punch a hole.

Ok guys, that's it for me.  I can't wait to tie these cuties on gift packages and give them to a few scrappy sisters at our National Scrapbooking Day festivities!
Thanks so much for joining me and I'll see you next time!!

Birds Of A Feather.

Hello!!

Today, I have a fun and simple set of canvases rockin' a serious pop of color :-)

I began by gluing down one of the pieces from the Birds On A Wire 2 set and the largest feather in the Feathers Shape Set with a small amount of tacky glue.  A quick coat of white acrylic paint and a little Mod Podge to seal it in and it's ready for color!

I've outlined the pieces with a water-soluble graphite pencil to make them stand out more.

I finished my canvases off with a few white circles drawn on with a white PITT pen...

...and a sprinkling of glass microbeads for a little sparkle!

If you'd like to see how this project came together, check out my video (COMING SOON!).

Hello!!

Did I mention I'm now designing for Gina's Designs??  YEP!  So expect to see more chippy love over here :-)

Now, on with the makes!

Today, I've created a set of Easter inspired cards---because it's Easter---and also because I'm absolutely smitten with the pieces in the Build A Layout Easter set from Gina's Designs.

To alter the chipboard, I began by painting each piece white and then adding a wash of Distress ink.

To finish them off and give a bit of sparkle, I dabbed on some Stickles glitter glue here and there.

If you look closely, you can see a few sequins under the vellum to add some fun movement to the cards.

And that is the set!  These cards are definitely Easter-inspired, but just 'spring' enough to brighten someone's day for the whole season.

Thanks so much for joining me, and I'll see you next time!!
